{"id":3118,"date":"2025-12-15T19:42:19","date_gmt":"2025-12-15T19:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/admissions\/?page_id=3118"},"modified":"2025-12-31T19:53:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T19:53:16","slug":"immunization","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/admissions\/health-records\/immunization\/","title":{"rendered":"Immunization Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students who meet certain criteria are required to provide immunization records as stated below per the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and state law. 911±¬ÁÏÍø complies with the collection of this information for the safety of our students, faculty and staff. Students who do not meet their requirements will not be able to register for future classes. Religious and medical accommodations are allowed under the law and must be renewed annually.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You must meet the MDPH immunization requirements if any of the following apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are taking 12 credits or more AND are under 30 years old<\/li>\n<li>You are an international student on a visa, exchange or visiting classes program AND under 30 years old<\/li>\n<li>You are enrolling in Nursing, Practical Nursing, Paramedic, Medical Assistant or Surgical Technology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Immunization records must include all of the requirements listed below, or progress toward meeting them, from your healthcare provider\u2019s office, patient portal, clinic, healthcare facility, pharmacy or school nurse.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Records must include your name, DOB, vaccinations and date of administration with the site\u2019s name.<\/li>\n<li>All blood tests must include the lab and\/or physician\u2019s office name, the result and date of collection<\/li>\n<li>Immunization records can be submitted in person to the Health Records Office in C103, by fax to (413) 775-1827,<br \/>\nor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gcc.mass.edu\/registrar\/upload\/\">online<\/a>. Records take three to five\u00a0days to process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your immunization record must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hepatitis B<\/strong> \u2014 Three dose series (or two dose Heplisav-B) or a positive anti-HBs (surface antibody) blood test\n<ul>\n<li>Health occupations students need <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>BOTH<\/strong><\/span> a vaccine series <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>AND<\/strong><\/span> a positive titer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>MMR<\/strong> \u2014 Two dose series of vaccines or a positive IgG antibody blood titer to each disease<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tdap<\/strong> \u2014 Must have one dose and a history of DTaP primary series or age appropriate catch-up\n<ul>\n<li>If over 10 years since your last vaccination, then a booster is needed, either Td or TDaP<\/li>\n<li>Health occupations students must have a current <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tdap less than 10 years old<\/span> (Td booster not accepted)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Varicella <\/strong>\u2014 Two dose series or a positive IgG antibody blood titer\n<ul>\n<li>Non-health majors may use a healthcare provider verified history of chicken pox with the date or your age noted; this history may be in your health records and not on the immunization list so check for it if missing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Meningococcal<\/strong> \u2014 Only for students 16 through 21 years of age AND taking 12 or more credits:\n<ul>\n<li>One dose of a MenACWY conjugate vaccine on or after 16th birthday or a signed MA Department of<br \/>\nPublic Health waiver<\/li>\n<li><em>Meningococcal type B vaccinations (Bexsero, Trumenba) do not meet this requirement<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Recommended, but not required:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Flu (Influenza)<\/strong> \u2014 <em>Recommended<\/em> for all students; required with each flu season for health occupations students<\/li>\n<li><strong>COVID-19<\/strong> \u2014 <em>Recommended<\/em> for all students; required for health occupation students (contact Health Records for current requirements)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students who meet certain criteria are required to provide immunization records as stated below per the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and state law. 911±¬ÁÏÍø complies with the collection of this information for the safety of our students, faculty and staff.
