In a good faith effort to comply with the federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the college wants to re-emphasize its long-standing policy against the use of illegal drugs and alcohol on college premises.<\/p>\n
\n
It is prohibited for any employee of the college to unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess or use controlled substances at the workplace.<\/li>\n
In a further effort to safeguard its employees, college policy calls for disciplinary actions, up to and including termination, in instances where employees are found to have engaged in the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession or use of a controlled substance in the workplace.<\/li>\n
The college will educate and inform employees about the health consequences of drug and alcohol abuse.<\/li>\n
Employees will not be terminated for voluntarily seeking assistance for a substance abuse problem; however, continued performance, attendance or behavioral problems may result in loss of a job.<\/li>\n
Where available evidence warrants, the college will bring matters of illegal drug or alcohol use to the attention of appropriate law enforcement authorities.<\/li>\n
In addition, all employees are required to notify the Executive Director of Human Resources in writing of any criminal drug statute conviction for a violation occurring in the workplace no later than five (5) calendar days after such conviction.<\/li>\n
Any employee convicted of a drug offense for a violation which occurred in the workplace may be required to participate in a drug rehabilitation program or be subject to termination.<\/li>\n
